The Atlas Compass / Core Values

The Atlas Compass / Core Values

Four Directions. One Jesus Christ.

Every ministry decision at Atlas passes through four bearings of the compass: North, South, East, and West. These values help keep the main thing the main thing, and they help define who we are and where we’re headed.

North

Gospel Focused

1 Corinthians 2:2

“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”

Jesus Christ is our true north.

We want everything we do to point people toward Jesus and His finished work on the cross. Programs, music, ministries, and events matter, but none of them are the treasure. Jesus is.

South

Missionally Visible

Matthew 28:19

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”

Church is more than a Sunday gathering.

Atlas exists beyond the walls of a building. We want to be present in neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and homes. We believe followers of Jesus are sent people who live intentionally where God has placed them.

East

Joyfully Obedient

Matthew 13:44

“Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

Following Jesus is not joyless duty.

Obedience flows from delight. When we discover Jesus as our greatest treasure, following Him becomes something we gladly pursue, even when it’s difficult.

West

Relationally Reoriented

John 13:35 • Matthew 22:37-40

“Love one another…”

Jesus changes our relationship with God and with people.

Atlas isn’t built around spectators or performances. We want to be an authentic community where people love God, love one another, and live that out in visible ways.
